Exercise: cone_story

The exercise due at the start of the class on Tuesday/Wednesday is about frame-by-frame animation.

  • Stage size: 800x600
  • Frame rate: 30 fps
  • Background color: your choice
  • Animation length: 5 seconds minimum (150 frames)

The basic animaiton I would like you to complete should build on your original ice cream cone that melts. However this one should incorporate at least TWO additional frame-by-frame animations. Each item that animates should be on its own layer.

The goal here is to communicate to me that you understand the Flash drawing tools, the use of multiple layers (and how to label them), the concept of frame-by-frame animation, and the ability to use timing to tell a story.

Think of creative ways to do this. Keep frames in certain layers blank to pace your story. Although we haven't covered sound yet, if you want to experiment with it, go to flashkit.com and download ones that might enhance your story. (To bring the sound into your Flash document, go to FILE-IMPORT-IMPORT TO STAGE. Find the sound file and select it.) Import photos, images or an interesting background if you would like.

But, bottom line, show me understand the Flash drawing tools and frame-by-frame animation.
